I have a WD TV for playback via my tv, and want to have both itunes/plex set up otherwise with my movies.
Basically my current movie collection so far looks like:
All in avi format.
WD Passport external drive ----> Movies folder ----> moviename.avi
For iTunes I've used iFlicks to create a Quicktime reference file for each movie, pointing to the avi file. Each is correctly tagged with coverart, data, etc using iFlicks.
So stored like so:
Macintosh HD ---> User ---> Movies ---> MediaLink ---> moviename.mov
Plex seems to get most of the movie's data scraped automatically from the external drive ---> Movies folder
I want to know the following questions tho:
1. If I move the location of the main Movies folder, how will this effect the reference movies? Will I need to create new ones? Or will there be a way to update them en-mass to point to the new location?
2. Is there a quick way to extract all cover art from the reference files, and then dump a copy of the resulting jpg in the movies folder?
I'll likely have some more questions later
