Hi all,

I currently have a lots of audio files from a sound effects library that have gone from mac to PC and PC to mac over the years.
It's resulted in the file names becoming useless and most of the names missing.
I'm looking for an app or tip to allow me to rename files one by one with names pasted from a PDF without having to slowly click each file in the finder. Does this exist??

Thanks.

Matt

How would you associate the file to be renamed with the desired new name?

I don't understand the question.
I had a programme on a PC that let me batch rename but choose each files individual name.
So I would load all tracks.
Open the PDF of the sfx from the library producers and copy the PDF descriptions to the new file names or comments.
Then click rename.
Every app out there seems set up to batch rename. Ie sunrise-01, sunrise-02 etc.

I'm sure an app exists but you can also use a script for this. Can you attach that PDF file to your reply?

The closest solution I have for this is to use Keyboard Maestro. I use this for renaming video files from a lines in a text file. You can create a macro to copy each line of the clipboard to each file in a folder. I've attached an image of the workflow. Good luck!

Adobe Bridge CC does batch renaming. Very extensive feature set for a batch rename as well.

It's completely unlocked and comes with the trial for Photoshop CC. Once the trial is over, you can uninstall or continue to use just Bridge for free.
