iPad Renaming photos in Photos app (Camera Roll)

Hello,

I tried to drag-n-drop photo from Photos app to other app (I tested iOS Files app, Yoink and FE File Browser Pro), then to rename photo and then to drag-n-drop back to Photos app.

Photos app is ignoring my name changing. It still keeps at IMG_276.JPG. When I rename photo in FE File Explorer app (or any other app), then I drag that photo to Photos app, and then I drag photo from Photos app back to FE File Explorer app (to verify file name), name is still IMG_276.JPG

I also used ViewExif by Skyjos and Exif Viewer by Fluntro to reveal name of photo in Photos app. They also show IMG_276.JPG after renaming.

Also I noticed that my older photos I renamed on my Mac (let’s say “My Cat.jpg”) is in Photos app as “My Cat.jpg” (used ViewExif and Exif Viewer apps). When I tried to rename that foto by way described above, and then drag it back to iOS Photos app, name is frozen at “My Cat.jpg”.

any solution?

As far as I have read about it, the Photos app (iOS) does not allow renaming directly. You could export ,rename, and re-import the photo in Files, but that seems like more work than it's worth.

The way that works easiest for me is to edit the names in Photos on MacOS. It works as long as your photos are all synced via the cloud.
