macOS Rendering issues with SceneKit in Xcode

When using Xcode (11.3 11C29) on macOS 10.14.6, the background of the SceneKit scene has this artifacting. ALSO, similar artifacting occurs in Illustrator when importing an image. Any suggestions for what this could be?
 
Restarting Xcode fixed the issue (EDIT: nope, problem still persists)
