As expected, Apple opensources Rendezvous:

By making the source code freely available, Apple is making it easy for
developers to use Rendezvous technology in their network-enabled devices or
software applications. The Rendezvous source code includes software to
support UNIX, Linux, and Windows-based systems and devices.

Source may be downloaded here

This is a great idea; this makes Rendezvous, even more likely to be a standard protocol to all devises, and platforms.
Just another thing to tack up to why Apple is so great

Correct. Zerconf is the protocol and Rendezvous is Apples Implementation of Zerconf. This is generous by Apple because no one else has an implementation as mature as Apple's.

i love the GNU spirit--apple is so cool, and this is just icing on the cake. they are going to show M$'s anal antipiracy up to the max... activation is the antichrist, let me tell you!

Is iPhoto going to have Randezvous integrated into it, like iTunes? I have no use for that, but if they can do it w/ iTunes, I am suer they can do it w/ iTunes. I can't wait to get a stereo w/ Randezcous :D.

Could we expect something really cool, like sharing computer resources (RAM, speed, HD) w/ zero config by Randezvous?
