Renewing .Mac Service

My .Mac expires in two months. I noticed that you can buy .Mac from other sources (other than Apple) for less money. Does anyone know of problems buying it from someone else? Also, I want to ensure I can just register the .Mac serial number that I buy and not have any break in service.

No worries buying it elsewhere. All you need is the serial number. You'll have no lapse in service.
