Renewing MobileMe without going through Apple?

Hi all,
My MobileMe account is set to expire in April of this year. I want to renew it, but I'd like to buy the subscription through Amazon or ebay to save a few bucks.
Does anyone know how, once I got the number from a third party vendor, how one actually renews the subscription? I've looked through MobileMe, but all I saw was the option to renew through Apple. I didn't see any place to enter a number or anything. Thanks for any help as saving a few bucks means a lot to me these days!
