The glass on my 42 mm Sport is broken. Apple can repair it for $200 or I can buy a new S1. Having it repaired seems to be the most logical solution.

Other than a faster CPU the S1 does not seem to have any significant advantage. Am I missing something?

The Series 1 is only $100.00 more for a new Model at $300.00, versus paying $200.00 to have it repaired. I would purchase the Series 1 and your getting a whole new Watch. You are correct though, the Series 1 offers an upgraded processor. The Series 2 offers water resistance and GPS.

The question is why they charge more for a watch screen than an iPhone?
Because the iPhone's glass screen is easy replaceable. However the :apple:Watch has a bonded crystal (screen) to OLED display and this is permanently glued to the case.

They don't.

But, Apple's repair charges and replacement parts have always been stupidly high, compared to any other reference point I have seen. Ever seen a repair estimate for a Mac product? It will make you want to punch an apple in the face to make that stupid bite mark.

You can buy series 1 with an updated CPU and I'm sure you can find deals on the first generation watch for about the same price.
$200 for a screen repairs is really instane, I'm glad I have Apple Care +

The OP has a Sport so it's a Ion X glass screen but still no reason to cost that much.
