I dropped off a MacBook Pro at my local Apple Store to repair a swollen battery. The Mac is about two years old and is covered under AppleCare. They are covering it under warranty, but for the last week the status is only "We’ll be sending your product to the repair center soon".

Is this a normal delay? When calling, I just end up in endless phone trees that can't connect me to a person that knows anything.

As much as it hurts having it "out of your hands", there's not much to do except "wait".

The consolation is that you get a new battery under warranty -- possibly other replaced parts as well.

Over the past few years it seems like I've had more interaction with Apple service than in all the other 35+ years of using Apple combined. Its not unusual. Sometimes its done by later in the day. Sometimes it goes to a 3rd party and sits for what seems like forever.

What others have said. Also, this is probably the worst time of the year to initiate a repair and expect a speedy turnaround time. Holiday season is always a nightmare for things like this.
