I have a 2009 13 inch unibody mbp, out of warranty, that needs fairly basic repair.
The fan was making very loud sounds and I got another fan and tried to put it on, but I messed up and the little connector that was soldered on the motherboard broke off.
In my weak defence, the fixit website instructions were a bit vague, and it appeared that I should pull up on the connector to remove it, but I should have slid it forward out of the connector instead. In any case, the little connector broke off the mb so there is no way to connect the fan plug to the mb anymore.
I have carried on using the laptop with no problems, but if you try to play games on it, it now overheats, so it's limited to doing less strenuous tasks like word processing.
I live in the uk, just outside London in Surrey, and I would like to know if anyone could recommend a repair shop that might be able to work on such a problem?
The local apple store is too busy and I don't want to waste time there, unless there is no option. Also, I don't plan to spend a lot of money on this because it's not worth it to me. I can still use the laptop and I have others available, but I was thinking of giving it to my young son and he would like to play some games on it if possible.
Thanks for any advice.
