Repairing HD from Install Disk

I tried to repair my HD but it said that I needed to boot from my install disc and repair then using disk utility. If I boot from the Snow Leopard install disc and then repair my HD, am I going to have to re-install Snow Leopard? I've searched but found no info related to this.

No, you can repair the disk without doing an install
