Repairing Permissions...

After the latest update of front row and itunes my mac started to go quite slow.
so i repaired the permissions and turned up loads of errors with those two and iphoto. anyway i thought it was all good, but it didnt get any faster. Every time i try to run repair permissions the same problems keep arising...Help?

this has been on several threads already...

basically 10.4 and 10.5 but more so on 10.5 show advisory notes when running permission repairs.... these will keep reappearing, but its nothing to worry about
 
Yah I ran into this when running permissions because I thought I might have messed something up by doing a Windows install without Bootcamp assistant. After doing some Google searches I found out it really wasn't a problem with anything on my MBP but instead something OSX is doing. Apple really needs to correct this - if something isn't a problem it shouldn't be showing up as one.

I had basically the problem and have been doing everything in the last couple of days to fix it--even tempted to buy a new hard drive. Basically with me, everything is fine until the first symptom Firefox or Safari crashes, then other apps follow. I've erased the entire HD, reinstalled repaired permissions for the umpteenth time and the problem still persists:

those permissions you've listed keep changing (to the wrong setting, I presume) every time I shut down the computer. Why is this happening, I have no idea, but I've have yet to read a real solution. Let's hope something comes along.

Okay, this is silly. Just for an experiment, I ran Disk Utility and repaired permissions--result:

So, as far as I can tell (I'm no expert--that would be the folks who sell the faulty OS for a profit), either: (1) Mac OS reverts the permissions to the incorrect settings listed above as a default, or (2) Disk Utility changes permissions to the incorrect settings so it can give itself work to do.

Apple must know about this--this is absurd.
