Repartitioning an external hard drive

I bought a Maxtor 3200 500GB external hard drive to store my movies and TV shows on. When I got it I erased it, and it now has one partition, an Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

I've used about 100GB. What with Leaopard coming out, I'd like for it to have a backup partition for use with Time Machine. I'm also thinking of maybe putting a small partition there to play with Ubuntu.

Is there a way I can repartition the drive, without losing the data already on there?

You can do it using Boot Camp, if you have a working copy. I think some commercial utilities can also do it.
