Any ideas as to what would stop you from doing as much?

My late 2011 is doing fine, except for the sub-par resolution. Would love to whack in the 1440x900 display.
 
I don't think the display panel of a MBA will fit that of a MBP - check out ifixit's site for the tear downs to see how things look though
