Hey all! I have a 17" unibody MBP with the matte screen option. I've had it since last July and, although I'm extremely happy with it, I still wish it had the black bezel.

Does anyone know of an easy way to swap the bezel or if any company has made an alternative like a black vinyl sticker cover? I've searched high and low with no luck.

I know you can purchase the bezel/glass front mount for the mbp, but I don't need the glass and I don't know if you can separate the two?

Thanks in advance!

I don't really think there's any market for that. I'd just live with the aluminum bezel.

@ spinnerlys: I've already seen that (mentioned in my original post). Can the bezel and glass be separated? I've seen the bezels by themselves but only for 13" and 15" mbp's.

Would painting even be an option?

proper surface prep would be required, and apple would almost certainly void the warranty for at least your screen.

some sort of gloss vinyl overlay would be your best bet. try a local custom sign shop, they may be willing to make one for you for relatively cheap.

With my luck that could go very wrong, very fast. lol

I think I'll try approaching a shop. Sounds like a good idea. Thanks!
