iPhone 5 or earlier Replace battery=faster iphone?

Hi I have an iPhone 5S. The battery is giving up and my phone is so much slower than it used to be.

I'm considering taking it to an apple store for a new one, or taking it to my local phone repair shop.

Do apple do anything clever to speed up your phone after installing a new battery (to restore previous performance) or will my phone 'sense' the new OEM battery and boost performance anyway?

Apple will just replace the battery, that’s it. You may ask them to restore it for you but make sure you take a backup first. Generally a new battery means the CPU will perform in optimal speed which will result in better performance in day to day use.

How many space have you left on your device? Which version is (8GB, 16GB... )?

I have an 32GB SE, and having less than 10-12GB free makes behave somewhat far less smooth
