So - I really dont like the black chiclet keys on the unibody MBP. Although I would really want them in classic grey, I was wondering:

Would it be possible to buy a set of WHITE KEYS from the old Macbook 13 inch series, and put them in the new MBP ??

Might sound crazy, but would be cool if it worked :)

the letters on the white keys are not transparent so keyboard backlighting won't work

I believe all of the keys except for the top row of keys above the numbers should fit, because the keys on the white macbook are about a millimeter too big. As for the plastic scissor mechanism underneath the keys, Im not sure if it is compatible with the unibody.

Would there be any 3rd-party keys around? Custom made for the MBP-Unibody...

It's available but they're more aimed towards media editors, content creators, etc. The prices ain't cheap either and they're not transparent since they're designed for desktop keyboards.

Still... it's colourful!

It works, even the backlighting (though it's ambient backlighting through the entire key and not just through the letter part).

You could just buy an external keyboard from Apple, and use the white keys then, if they fit. I wish they mode those in black actually, so we would have a option for key replacement if needed.

ultraneo:
man i would LOVE to have that keyboard :D

anyway, i was thinking of doing the opposite,
making the ALU keyboard BLACK :S
i dont have all the keys in black, right?

As much as I like them...
and I man, can see the Premiere version coming in really handy!!
I don't however wanna pay over a hundred bucks for bits of
moulded plastic!! It's a tad expensive!

What I'd like to do is replace the white keys on my bluetooth keyboard with black ones.

Keycap colour

I actually would prefer black keys like on a macbook instead of the white ones on my aluminium keyboard. The white ones seem to get quite grubby, especially when the kids get on the computer.

To each their own. I think the MBA looks lovely with white keys. My partner has a MBA and it's lovely, but it would be more lovely with white keys.

I also have both a BT and a wired keyboard for my macbook, and I also like the idea of having the external keyboard with black keys. Would be nice to have a change.

EDIT: You could buy a topcase with white keys pretty cheap on eBay.
