Replace iMac HDD with Hybrid?

I have a 2010 27" i7 iMac on 10.8.3. I get a lot of disk activity at startup, have done a clean reinstall etc but the iMac on boot is unusable for about 3-4 minutes after the desktop appears and the disk is heavily in use.

I'm thinking of changing the disk to a hybrid or SSD, would ne of these work?
Has anyone done this?

I haven't personally but I would recommend a 2 drive solution since you have the room, since your iMac is 27"
