I can't believe it's amazing I left my phone at home just took watch ..

The Apple watch has better battery life than the iPhone 😁

The watch can

Listen Apple music via Bluetooth
Take phone calls
Send text messages

The list goes on and on and on..

In the near future watch would replace phone insane 😅

I've been seeing a lot of this claim lately with the release of the Ultra and I gotta say I just don't think this is something that would last if someone consistently tried this for an extended period of time.

About as crazy as all the people who've replaced their Macs/PCs with an iPhone or an iPad.

Let me know when I can hook up six displays to an Apple Watch and I'l think about this. I'm still in the computer age.

I'd say for most people, it's just not feasible.

While the Apple Watch covers your most basic functions like calls, texts and navigation, it doesn't really do a lot of the things we regularly use our phones for nowadays. How are you going to look up information on a website on the tiny Apple Watch screen? Scan a QR code for a restaurant menu? Browse social media? Snap a quick picture to send to family or friends?

Don't get me wrong, it's doable. But unless you're a really light smartphone user, you're going to have to get used to a lot of compromises. Even when things work. Take notetaking for instance, it's just a lot more cumbersome on the tiny Apple Watch keyboard, or you'll have to rely on dictation which can be inconvenient in certain places.

I think of my Watch as a good backup in the event my iPhone is unavailable for some reason. I do think it is impressive with all of the things it can do though!

I can see in certain situations you can leave the phone at home.

Don’t you need a phone cellular plan to get a watch cellular plan? If so you’re paying for the phone anyway you might as well use it.

There’s a ton of reading I do on the phone that I couldn’t do on a watch.

If you don’t need to use it for a bunch of email and browsing you can leave your phone behind. To go on a walk or to the gym, sure. Replace? No I don’t think that’s quite the case.

Nothing new about this though, could do this on older watches.
It's fine, but not a replacement, and still plenty you can't do.

Its for the person who would want a dumb phone like a flip phone or something premium like a punkt MP02 they would use this not everyone wants a smartphone some may want something just for calls and texts i use a dumbphone and a mac and was thinking of swapping the dumbphone for a Apple Watch Ultra. https://www.thelightphone.com/ i have used that phone for last 3 years as my only phone. Once we can use a watch with out needing a iPhone id deff switch from dumbphone to Apple Watch ultra device in the future.

3 things keep me from wanting to use my Apple Watch watch instead of my iPhone:
  1. No MFi hearing aid support on the Watch
  2. No CarPlay support on the watch
  3. No camera on the watch
If the watch DID support those 3 items, I suppose I’d have to add “Battery life” to the list - the watch works fine right now, but probably would not if I were streaming to hearing aids & to my car ;)

Obv the camera is the hardest one to implement.
