For Imac Mid2011 (EMC 2429):
Okay, I know this sound rather strange. But since my ODD is broken anyway, I thought i swap it out for a 2TB 3,5" HDD, and upgrade the built in 3,5" 1TB HDD to a SSD. This way I would not have to touch the logic board at all and installation would be and in fact was quite easy. Only thing needed was a Slim SATA- SATA adapter.

Unfortunately the Imac does not recognize the HDD in optical bay at all. What did I do wrong? Please help

I think you might get more help if you state the year/model of iMac you've got -- maybe put it in the thread title, too.

I replaced my iMac's ODD with a 2.5" HDD and had no problem, but your iMac must be a newer model than mine because my Early 2008 iMac had a PATA connector for the ODD instead of SATA.

thanks for the advise

you are probably right. Thanks. It is updated
