Well I finally got my new 27' iMac i7. SWEET! However, when I began with the switch from my 2008 24" I think my 24" got pissed, because from what I can tell the HD is dying. Thank God for backups!!! The good news is that it is still under the Applecare 3yr plan. Has anybody had any experience with older machines close to the extended warranty's expiration? (Aug 2011) What will Apple do? Replace the HD or iMac or credit replacement/salvage value?

You get a new drive. It aint that hard to replace.

They wont replace the whole thing for a $60 drive that takes 15 minutes to replace.
