I had a mishap last night. Long story short, a tiny black screw from a project ended up in the gap between the body of my Mac and the screen. As it was tiny and black, I did not see it. When I went to close the lid, CRUNCH. (insert string of expletives here)

So the lower right corner of the glass is cracked, but it's not over the display (see pic). It's not big, but it's certainly annoying.

I went to ifixit.com and a whole new display is $450. No thanks. Is there way to replace JUST the glass? I'd rather have somebody do it unless it's extremely easy; I have a nasty habit of screwing up delicate repairs.

If there isn't then this will end up for sale soon at a deep discounted price. I already ordered a new (refurb) 14" MBP, since I"m about due for an upgrade anyway. But it'd sure be nice if I can fix this one.

Thanks.

Personally, I would cover it with thin silicone tape, and live with it until it dies.

(Also, not going to joke about how you "screwed up" your machine...)

Given how the rest of the notebook looks, I’d leave it as is. But if you want o replace the chin glass, it’s cheap and widely available on AliExpress.

I like the silicone tape idea... but since my new MBP will be here Tuesday, I'll just sell it at a deep discount so somebody will get a nice Mac cheap.

You could also try some of that liquid stuff they used to advertise on TV that could fill the cracks and make them less noticeable. Similar to the UV cure windshield repair kits you can get at the parts store. Just a drop or 2 and hopefully it would sneak into the cracks, then UV cure it.
