So my 2012 MacBook Air wasn't charging anymore, and I bought a new IO Board to replace the old one. I found A1466 IO Board and jumped on it, not realizing that there are many different A1466 IO Boards. I got a 2015 one.

So I installed it and it's in and working well, for the most part. My computer is finally charging properly. However, I noticed it was the wrong IO Board when I saw there was nowhere for me to plug the webcam in. No worries, I don't really need a webcam on this machine. But what's getting to me is that the sound isn't working anymore. I can't even plug headphones in. Is there any way for me to restore the sound's functionality? I've unplugged and replugged everything on the IO Board so it's all tight and as it should be, reset the PRAM and SMC, but no sound.

Here's a 2012 I/O board (A1466: 820-3214-A) for a 13inch MacBook Air (assuming this is what you have) for $23.88 plus $12.55 in shipping that you can get and replace the 2015 part and restore full functionality to your 2012 Air. Here is the link:

or you can go to the iFixit web site and get the same part for your Air (used as well) and pay $89.99

Hope this helps.
