Hello everyone, I have replaced battery in my daughter's iPhone. For comparison did Geekbench4 tests on old battery and new one. Latest iOS 11.2.2
Quick summary... same speed only lasts longer.
Fastest 5S in Geekbench results browser 2282.

I was actually wondering if changing the battery helps improve the speed of the 5s in any way, even though Apple didn't state the 5s as one of the effected phones. Clearly it doesn't.
Apple still charges $99 for battery replacement for the 5s right?

S***. I was hoping that it would benefit cos my 5s is a slow turd on 10.3.

Thanks for posting your findings. Did you get the battery done at an Apple Store? was it $79? Is it a quick repair?

I have a 5s that I use as a backup/work phone. My wife's sister was using it for a long time & the battery is pretty bad. Aside from that, it works well enough for my needs. If it's a simple & painless process, I may get that battery updated.

$79.

I'll bet this 5s wasn't shutting down at 80% battery health, or somewhat lower for that matter, which is Apple's claim for throttling.

OP, can you confirm?

My previous 5S was a turd for battery. Kept shutting down every other minute. Battery life ranged from 12 steps (unplug, walk to bathroom, then it’d die) to about an hour if I had it on the lowest brightness & Low Power Mode, though it would frequently shut down regardless. Percentage didn’t matter and charging could immediately make it jump from 20% to 80%.

She always died at the worst time. Order an Uber, phone dies, unsure if the request went through. Waiting and hoping. It was permanently tethered.

Charge it back up, turn it back on, and there’s another half cycle which compounds the issue with the battery over time. Bad battery health breeds worse battery health.

I’d have much preferred it was throttled to actually be usable as there are few things more frustrating than using an iPhone with a shot battery.
