Hi,

This is a followup from my previous thread found at: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/troubleshooting-the-i-o-card-mba-not-booting.2126699/

So today I finally got around to replacing the I/O card of my sisters MBA in order to fix it, this went very well and the MBA booted perfectly after I had replaced it. I then rebooted it to make sure everything was fine and it was. The battery was unplugged the entire time.

However, when I started screwing the service hatch back into place I notice the MBA is no longer charging like it was previously, so something must have happened here. Anyone could possibly know what? I verified that power is OK on both charger and the outlet so that should not be the issue.

Any recommendations or suggestions would be great.

Thanks.

I dont think so, no unfortunately not. Left it in the charger all night but no difference.

Should have clarified sorry, it no longer boots, no charging light completely dead. So either it must have shorted (The I/O board) or the service hatch has broken something inside, no idea.

Yes correct Audit13, unfortunately I do not have another board replacement available.

Yes agree, hopefully anyone on these forums might know what, or what I could proceed with to determine the errors/root cause. :)

Same way before the MagSafe board replacement, so don't replace it..... You must take mesure and observe the board for bad caps....ISL6259, SMC issue..... other....?
If you can testing board without screw in place....
Perhaps a screw cause a shorted to GND....(inside the board..)

Just wanted to put in an update for anyone coming to see this thread later: A few days after i noticed the MBA charging hit a green light and it was working perfectly again, still is. So all is fairly good now. Still have to replaced the keyboard and possibly the screen due to other issues.
