After the 7th gen iPod Touch announcement I was forced to decide between it or an alternative to replace my dying 6th gen iPod Touch - I decided to go with an alternative and so far I am very happy. I ended up buying a used iPhone 7 128gb for $280 (no sales tax).

So for $40 less money including sales tax I get the following advantages:

-Same processor but not under clocked
-Better graphics performance
-Same RAM
-Better camera
-Better battery life
-Touch ID 2nd gen
-Real GPS
-Bigger, and better screen
-Cellular service (if I need it - I don't)

The only disadvantage is it is bigger form factor and weights 50 grams more. And a slightly less than 100% capacity battery (but still much better than Touch).

After a couple days of using it at the gym I decided the advantages far outweigh the slightly larger size and weight. Actually compared to my iPhone XS Max the iPhone 7 feels really small.

Just picked one up today for Father’s Day. I used to have 6 gen a few years ago until it got so slow it was unbearable. I had been using a 32gb SE as an iPod touch. Got the 128gb 7 gen iPod touch and put a lot of music on it and it is very smooth on iOS 12. Worth the money to me for a dedicated music/podcast type device. I will use it while working out and at work daily.

I replaced my iPod Touch 6th generation with a 7th generation and I’m...fine. I wish Apple had really tried on it.

A few weeks ago I purchased the iPod Touch 32GB(7th Gen.) with Apple Care+ from the Apple On-line Veterans Store which replaces my iPod Touch 5th Generation and really enjoying it!

Any warranty service on it? I was looking at a "Renewed" iPhone 7 (for a friend) and 7 Plus (for myself) thru Amazon but I'm not sure if they really do much renewal work other than plugging it in to see if the battery lasts at least 80% of the time of the original and the screen isn't cracked.
