wife replaced old AW4 with AWSE2022, was a bit of a rush as she hadnt bothered to try to set it up before 20 mins before leaving from airport. Got it paired okay with her iphone XS, but apple pay not working (card worked fine on old watch). go into watch app, wallet, and the card is there, press add card, get error "could not set up apple pay, an error occurred whilst setting up apple pay."

the only weird thing when setting up, it asked on her phone for her to put in her apple store password, she got it wrong, it popped up on the watch saying this, but didnt ask again.

I assume you've removed the card from the watch (from the phone's watch app), and then re-added? If not, we should start there. If that doesn't work, remove it from the phone's settings app, then re-add, and add to watch.

Sometimes you have to enter the 3 digit security number and then it should connect with the card issuer for permission to allow the card to be used for Apple pay.

This happened to me recently too. I had to unpair and re-pair the watch again and everything worked. Eventually. It was a frustrating hour or two, but to be fair I realized that I was trying to set up the watch without it on my wrist, while it should have been on my wrist. I’m not sure if that’s related.
