My 2011 iMac was part of the 1TB HDD recall program, so I had the drive replaced. But now maybe it's just me, but the hard drive seems noisy..or noisier than the old one. System Information says I now have a WD hard drive. Are they noisier than Seagates?

HDD do make some noise when they are spinning up. What does it sound like and about how loud is it? Generally HDD aren't super loud just kind of a quiet hum, if it is really loud then it maybe a trip back to the Apple store for you.

It's not so noisy I can't sleep, but it's definitely louder than the old hard drive.

I guess I'll wait it out a few more days and see if I forget about it :p

If you think its loud then its probably louder than it should be. If I were I would take it back to Apple and have them check it out. After all it would suck to find out that its a problem after your apple care ran out.

Good advice. I'll call Apple about it tomorrow.
