I've got an iPhone 4. So, my old iPhone 3G was up for grabs so my old man took it. The contract ran out in June, and I called up O2 to get my PAC code so I could keep my number (I'm on Orange with the iP4).
Over the weekend, I filled out O2's online form in order to officially unlock it since I've seen the contract through. O2 says it can take up to two weeks, which is why I haven't heard anything yet. But, I'm wondering if the unlock will be successful for two reasons:
1. I got my iPhone 3G replaced by Apple during my contract, so the IMEI number will be different.
2. I'm on Orange now, so when they asked for my mobile number, it won't be an active O2 number anymore.
I think the second point isn't really an issue - they are probably just needing a number to text you. But the first point - how do O2 know that that iPhone is the one that was under contract and not another iPhone?
I could call up O2, but seeing as I'm no longer with them, I don't fancy paying for the phone call. Has anyone had similar experience?
