I'm picking up a used 2009 13" macbook pro this week, but it's going to need a new battery.

Is the best place to grab a reliable one that (hopefully) won't explode iFixit? Are many of these random sources claiming to sell "oem" batteries for less too good to be true?

Buying in Canada if anyone has any recommendations. I have no problem doing this myself.

Just a personal opinion, but I would only buy a replacement battery from Apple. I know their prices are high, but the possibility of getting a non-Apple battery, and the potential damage it could do, moves me to stick with Apple batteries bought from Apple...just to be sure.

As I said...that's just me. I'd rather pay more to be sure of the product.:D

Though if you were to get a replacement battery, make sure it's from a respectable place (such as OWC). However, I agree with the above poster because I want that 100% comfort of knowing the battery will work as intended or apple will replace it instantly
