A few months ago my fiancee's iPhone 3GS got dropped on the corner of our coffee table which smashed the screen and dented the chrome bezel, etc.

We bought a replacement screen and a back housing and bezel pack off ebay but the housing is a pile of rubbish. Additionally, buttons aren't as responsive, etc so I decided to get it sorted.

Does anyone know where I can get a genuine Apple back cover and bezel? I've seen this on ebay but I'm not convinced it's genuine but it would save a lot of hassle. Would you guys/girls go for this or try and get a genuine apple housing?

I never order anything from Ifixit, so I don't know what the different between theirs and the one I ordered from Ebay or Amazon. The one I ordered from Ebay/Amazone worked flawlessly. I look and work great after replacement. Make sure you get the one with the pre-drilled sim card injector hole.

Thanks. Does the one I linked to look like a good one?

I look at the one you link. It already preassembled, all you need to do is to transfer your logic board, LCD/digitizer from your old phone over. I think it works well but if your phone is still working. Then why not just buy the back housing only and replace it. It cost only around USD15 on ebay.

When I bought the last back, it took me hours to fit it and the buttons haven't worked the same since and the bits that hold the 2 screws at the bottom of the phone broke so I was hoping buying a preassembled one would be the best option.

I see. Since you are in UK, then I think you should just buy that and swap over. However, it's seen expensive to me but if you are happy with it, then you should go for it.

That's life over here I'm afraid. I just looked at just the back and the chrome bezel and alone they're £25 so might as well pay the other £25 and have a new battery, new headphone jack, new everything else as well.
