I am planning to buy iPhone 4S soon and on ebay / craisglist i see that many people are selling replacement iPhones as new. Now i am not aware about what apple gives as replacement, whether they are actual brand new piece or a refurbished phone ?
But i just want to be sure before i fall for such a phone where the user claims it as replacement from apple.
Also are the apple refurbished ones as good as new ?
What sort of refurbishing apple does before handing over the phone as replacement to a user ?

They might as well be. I've had several replacement phones over the years and every one I've gotten hasn't had a mark or scratch on it.

Apple refurbished products are different than other companies refurbished!

Basically brand new, and you cant even tell if it is a brand new product or refurbished. Because sometimes they run out of refurbished and will give you a new one.

Someone on CG near my area is selling a 16GB 4S sealed pack (replacement) for 450$ so was thinking of whether i should take or not. Or may be i will wait for the next iPhone to launch and then buy. I am in no hurry and can buy in next 2 months.
