Got a replacement iPhone 4S yesterday for phone that didn't have audio on a number of outgoing calls. The new phone appears to have slightly less yellow tint but when taking photos it appears to over saturate the whites compared to the other 4S and struggles a bit more to get a focus/exposure lock - indeed the exposure fluctuated quite a bit just holding steady on a fixed point.
Where I notice it most is on the white wall behind our dining table, which is horribly bright in one location.
Unfortunately I can't really compare similar shots as the weather has turned from slightly sunnier to gray. I tried reproducing some inside (nighttime) shots and the new 4S has a different tone to the photos (living room light is adjustable so I can't get the level exactly as it was) which is slightly yellower compared to a more clinical white. Sadly I hadn't taken many test shots in the week I had the 1st, I wish I had.
I did a search and couldn't find others with a similar problem.
It doesn't appear to be a refurb unit (serial begins C39G, my week old one had been DNQG) and also may be unlocked (old unit was a German Telekom phone but replacement not recognized in Telekom unlock DB, indeed says its unlocked or belongs to another carrier, but the phone does accept Telekom sim. Sadly i dont have another networks PAYG sim handy to test).
I'll try and update the post in a couple of hours with a couple of photos (oh it would be nice to link photos from the iPad).
