Hi guys,

I've been having some problems with my old 2G iPhone so my insurance are replacing it with a brand new 3G iPhone.

I have to hand in my old phone at the same time as I receive the new one so just want to make doubley sure I back it up properly before handing it over.

Is it as simple as backing up the old phone with iTunes and restoring it onto the new phone?

Is there anything that isn't copied?

Any way to check the backup because once I hand the phone over there's no going back?

I assume it would be wise to erase all the data on my old phone - how do I do this?

Hi guys,

I've been having some problems with my old 2G iPhone so my insurance are replacing it with a brand new 3G iPhone.

Or if you've made sure to sync contacts, notes, calendar, etc., and you DON'T care about game saves or app settings, you can setup as new and sync. Make sure you copy the camera roll pics (if they matter to you) to your computer before doing this.

Is there anything that isn't copied? Media (except for camera roll pics) is not in a backup.

Any way to check the backup because once I hand the phone over there's no going back? You can use iPhone Backup Extractor and SQLite Database Browser to check it. See posts of mine with these two programs on how to use them.

I assume it would be wise to erase all the data on my old phone - how do I do this? Right before handing it to them, go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. Poof!

See RED answers.

Perfect thanks!

I've also exported my contacts and photos just to be safe.
