Replacement iPhone deleted old backup?

I think I'm screwed but thought I'd check...

Before my Genius appointment I backed up my iPhone...

Received replacement, Genius activated it.

Got home... plugged it in and it automatically synced/backed up..

I go to restore from back up and the only back up listed now is the back up it just made.

Is there anyway to get the old back up back? I checked the folder where backups are kept and all that's listed is the one it created with the new phone.

Sounds like the genius set it up as a new iPhone instead of restoring from a previous backup.
