I'm expecting delivery of a new 3GS from Orange here in the UK to replace my previous defective 3GS. When I connect the new iPhone to iTunes for the first time, if I give it exactly the same name as the previous iPhone, will I be able to restore it from a previous back-up so that content and settings are exactly the same as before? Or, as I suspect, will iTunes see it as a new device meaning I'll have to set everything from scratch? Thanks.

If your a forum regular you would see 9/10 issues are caused by restoring from a backup. The best way has always been to start a fresh and sync your contacts across.

Any errors in the backup get carried over.

So why not just post this in the original response? Instead of a pointless clift-hanging response.
