I need to replace my Macbook charger because of fraying and i prefer not to have my house burn down. Its fraying near the mag-safe adapter.

Anyway, my OE Macbook charger is 65 watt. I prefer not to spend the money for another genuine charger therefore i will buy generic. Would it be beneficial to purchase a 85 watt charger? Faster charges?

You're in luck! Apple recently began replacing all power adapters for free in or out of warranty. Just head to your nearest Apple Store for the replacement! :D

Because of what defect? Im afraid they will not warranty the adapter because of the fraying.

*edit* are you sure you're not referring to the USB power adapters for the 3g iPhone?
