The thin cable between the transformer and the MagSafe connector on my MacBook Pro's PSU has started to fray (and despite now wrapping it in duct tape the cable outer has also started to fray further along the cable as well).

I will need to check with my local reliable Mac repair store if they would be able to replace that cable (for a reasonable price), but it would probably also make sense for me to have a spare power supply unit in any case.

Apple MacBook PSUs are ridiculously expensive (especially considering the design flaw of the not easily removable/replaceable cable between the transformer and the computer, which is most often the part that fails).

I have seen a number of third-party PSUs on Amazon UK, which are all substantially cheaper, but they also all seem to feature a large number of spammy overly-gushing 5 star (presumably fake) reviews in poor English, a handful of more genuine sounding reviews from customers who haven't had any problems, but then also a few reviews where either the PSU has just packed in after a fairly short period of time, or has suffered from overheating, etc.

Are there any third-party MacBook Pro MagSafe 2 PSUs that are genuinely reasonable/good quality and reliable, or are they all really somewhat dodgy? I would really much prefer not have to fork out for an Apple PSU, which really is excessively expensive for what it is.
