Looking for advice here.
I have a 4tb Lacie HDD for TM.
Power supply has started making funny whining noise, so disconnected for safety.
It’s a 12v 1.5a output switching adapter, and it says max input 0.7a.
I have other Lacie adapters but they are 12v 2a so not sure if these are suitable, but I do have a router adapter which is 12v 1.5a.

I am assuming the router adapter should be ok even though it’s not designed for Lacie drives....?
Not sure if it’s best to have a higher or lower amps with a Lacie adapter.

If the connector is the same, including polarity, there is no risk in using a power adapter that's the same voltage but higher amperage. You just need to be sure that you're not using a power adapter that puts out lower amperage or different voltage in either direction.

Cool thanks.
Sorry what do you mean by polarity (I’m a bit dumb in regards to electrics).
The other Lacie supply is actually 12v 3.0a output, input 0.9a max.
Would prefer to use the Lacie if possible.

Polarity: there’s a positive and negative connection. Some connectors will be positive on the outside, others on the inside.

Well the other adapter I have is for a 2tb Lacie drive (same type ‘d2’) so should be same polarity I would think.
