Replacement Superdrive for 2010 MacBook Pro

My superdrive has pretty much given up reading/writing DVDs in my 2010 MacBook Pro.

I was gonna get a genuine replacemement Apple branded drive, but given optical drives have *always* been the first thing to turn faulty in all the mac laptops I've had, I wondered if actually there was a better replacement out there?

Any recomendations?

There isn't much difference between an Apple branded one and a non-Apple one. There are different manufactures of optical drives, Apple uses almost all of them across their machines.

You should be able to find a replacement for around $40, maybe a little less.

Are their any brands more reliable than others?

Any notorious no-no's.?

I'd consider putting an extra hard drive in there instead and just getting a USB DVD drive.
