I've a 2009 unibody Macbook. The trackpad keeps getting loose, meaning I have to open the machine up and tighten it.

Should I buy a new trackpad or this a sign of another problem?

There's nothing wrong with the trackpad itself. It clicks fine but when it's loose I have to press extra hard.

if you mean you need to tighten that t6 set screw in the front of the track pad you can A) see if you can get an Apple store to replace the set screw or B) get some blue loctite (http://www.loctiteproducts.com/p/t_lkr_blue/overview/Loctite-Threadlocker-Blue-242.htm) and put a very very small amount all the way around the disk shaped set screw to hold it in place.

clarification: you would need to REMOVE the set screw and apply the loctite to the threads and then put the screw back in. Use so little that there is no visible excess when you put it back in. Don't make a mess.
