My 14” M1 Pro MacBook currently has 82% battery health after 420 cycles (checked with AlDente). Since the laptop itself works perfectly fine, I’m planning to keep it for a few more years.

However, the battery degradation feels unusually fast — the device is only about 3 years old (bought in summer 2022). For comparison, my old 2015 MacBook Pro’s battery lasted around 5 years and didn’t drop below 80% until after 900+ cycles.

I’m considering replacing the battery with an original Apple one. Has anyone else had to replace their M1/M1 Pro battery at such a low cycle count? And how does the new battery perform over time?

I know it’s not so easy to do it myself. iFixit do have detailed instructions. Seems like using parts from iFixit is way cheaper than Apple.
