I have a Lacie 160GB external drive (LaCie d2 HD USB2&FW400&FW800 EXTREME 7200RPM 8MB) which is a few years old now and giving me problems. I'd like to experiment with keeping the casing and swapping out the drive. I've found instructions for this, but I haven't found consistent info on which drives I can put into this casing and up to what capacity. Apparently there are heat issues to consider over a certain size drive in this casing (it doesn't have a fan).
So, if anyone has experience with this I'd appreciate a recommendation on a make/model of a replacement drive and comments regarding capacity.
