Replacing HD in old MacBook Pro

I'm looking to upgrade my 2 GHz Core Duo to a 500GB Hard drive.

My two questions:

Is there a particular brand of HD I should get, or on the other hand, avoid?
I've been looking at this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136314

And, should I install it myself, or drop the $150 on authorized apple installation ? Is this a good price for installation, or could I talk the guy down a bit?

I would suggest getting the hard drive off of eBay.
