Hi,

Just a question regarding changing hard drives in a 12" PowerBook G4. I'm pretty sure the hard drive is broken, it went downhill after I hit the enter key quite hard in a temper lol. It has since then been laying unused for about 2 years.

The other day I saw it lying around and am now considering fixing it. Apparently changing the HDD in the 12" PB is a difficult task. Is this true? In the past I have upgraded RAM modules on both desktops and laptops and installed different PCI cards and so forth so have some experience in changing components.

Also links to HD's which are suitable for the PB 12" would be great. Anything around 100GB and 7200rpm would be great.

I am taking it to the Apple Store tomorrow to get a proper diagnosis, but I do not plan to pay Apple repair prices and would rather do it myself.

Thanks for any help.

Wow thanks for the fast replies.

Hopefully tommorow the Apple Genius will tell me that it is just the HDD, it should boot externally? Then I can fix it.

Annoyingly I now have to purchase a new charger as I threw it away thinking I would not need it in the future!
