Replacing keyboard in white macbook

I was wondering if I can replace my keyboard in my white macbook. My original one has an apple logo in the command key, version 1 I think. The one I'm using as a replacement is a version 2 (dashboard icon in F4 key). I have a 2.16 core 2 duo intel running 10.5.7. (mid 2007 model). The reason why I am asking, is because I have read multiple threads saying it is possible, but I have installed the newer one and it does not power up the computer. Am I doing something wrong, or is simply not possible.
