I have struggled lately and after spending some time at the Apple Store I figured I would post my impressions of the new MacBook Pro to my own.
The screen is brighter, but to my suprise not dramatically. It did give better viewing angle. I also noticed lowering the brightness to the low setting as darker than my current MacBook Pro.
My GeekBench score is right around 2500 while the 2.5 Ghz is about 3100. I can say, that launching apps and manuvering(GUI exprience) was very similiar.
I'm someone that use to upgrade very frequently but after two years with this laptop can't justify the upgrade.
Yes battery would be better, but most of the time I'm on charger.
After looking at a real performance boost I'm now looking at the Mac Pro. GUI and apps launching is dramatically faster. Also Aperture was definitely faster. Almost instant.
By no means a statistical comparison, more how things feel for everyday use, and value for the dollar.
If I had to travel still I would just keep my current laptop, but for a true speed bump and the fact I sit at a desk for work, that is pointing me to the Mac Pro.
Hope this helps anyone in a similiar situation.
