Due to a hard drive issue that I can't explain (I honestly can't tell you why because I don't know) I need to replace my 13" mid 2009 macbook pro internal HD. Internet searches come up with nothing, so I need to ask. Do I have to buy a new HD straight from apple? or will any regular laptop HD fit (size wise, I know the SATA cable is standardized) into a macbook pro?

I appreciate and responses

Thanks

Any drive will be fine, it doesn't need to be a drive from Apple.

Sorry if this seems like a newbie question. I'm new to replacing mac HDs (windows machines I could smash with a hammer and still get to work. lol) and its tough for me to get my hands on parts.

If I got a drive like this http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=15_1086_215_217&item_id=024479 it would fit and run?
Yes. As long as the drive is of the 2.5" form factor (as opposed to 3.5") and no thicker than 12.5mm (which usually isn't an issue), and as long as the drive uses standard SATA connectors, it will be compatible with your computer.
