Replacing MBP-17" (Mid 2009) Battery?

Hi all - after a long and impressive life, the battery in my mid 2009 17" MacBook Pro is finally up for replacement. I understand that although Apple officially considers these batteries non-replaceable, it is not hard to replace them, given the proper screwdriver tips. However, I am a little unclear about which specific battery to get. Is it the A1309? Is this the same as the battery that comes inside of the laptop, or is it higher capacity? Anything else I should know about replacing it?
