I have a MBP 2011 with 256 Ssd and 8gb ram. I'm using it for web and iOS development professionally.

Web development includes node/express, Laravel on Mac with homestead and running visual studio with parallels and of course around 100 tabs open on safari and chrome :)

The machine runs fine and it's fast for my needs. The problem is that it is the model which is known for GPU failing, hence I have completed disabled the GPU and I can't use my dell monitor at home which is a big minus. Also battery life is pathetic :)

I'm thinking of buying the Rmbp 13 with 8gb and 256 SSD. In geek bench this machine has lower scores than my current machine (in multitask at least). Can this machine handle the above tasks without problems including running parallels all the time?

Any other viable options below 2k?

Thanks!

Yep, go with a refurb or even brand new 2015 15" MBP. There are plenty of deals on them now, so it's a good time to buy. Alternatively, wait for WWDC to see if a new model is released.
